She had no idea that Draca's voice could go that rough and growl-y. She wasn't going to say it but she rather liked that. Then she caught the 'one day though' and she felt a grin spread over her lips. "I look forward to it," she called over to her as she took the moment to look for the snitch.
And she did keep her eye on the pitch. Mostly. There were times when she found her gaze slipping over to Draca, just to watch her. Thinking about how it felt to be so close to her.
She felt... she felt daring. She wanted to do something and act. Well, she was a Gryffindor, right? It was in her nature. That was when she went into a sudden dive. Not really after the snitch but simply wanting to feel the air and wondering if Draca would follow her, assuming she'd found it.
Draca smiled at that. They had played these games, flirtations and teasing and wicked words intended to draw one to the other. At least in Draca's mind. With that smile, she had no doubt that Daisy was indeed thinking the same way she was. Which between them, was not entirely surprising.
And Draca was mostly paying attention to Daisy and not the pitch, not the snitch. So when Daisy went into the dive, Draca followed her without question. A sharp steep incline, heading for where Daisy was heading.
It had been surprising to Cassie how closely their minds worked. That may say more about how much time they spent watching each other, what they did, what they said etc than it did anything else.
She loved the rush of adrenaline running through her body and the wind against her face as she dived toward the ground, bringing her broom up quickly enough so her feet skimmed the pitch. Cassie turned to watch Draca with a wide smile and a laugh.
This was the side of Malfoy she was sure not many of her house really got to see. Or perhaps they did but there was a small part of Cassie that liked the thought of being the only one to see her like this. The Slytherin Princess looking less that composed as she dived toward the ground as Cassie had.
She was breathtaking.
It wasn't a word she used often (if at all, let's be honest) but it was fitting for this moment.
Being a Malfoy meant she had a reputation to uphold. A place in the world where she had to be serious, determined, the epitome of a Slytherin. With Cassie, on a protected pitch as they were, she could be something else, someone else.
It let her embrace having a good time, playing and being free. As free as she had ever felt in her life.
Not just on the broom, but to play and joke and tease. To not worry if she hit the ground, if she made a fool of herself, but to see if she could do things she couldn't before.
Pulling up slightly before Cassie, turning her broom though, hard, her shoulder actually brushing the grass as she pulled up and followed the glint as the snitch, she was certain it was the snitch, changed direction.
Yet her gaze was on Cassie, watching the ease with which she controlled her broom. She came to the wizarding world so late, and yet she took to it so well. A pureblood. Part of their world even Draca's parents couldn't deny. That meant she wasn't just tantalized by her, but not fearing the way the other girl made her feel.
Truthfully, Cassie hadn't even been following the snitch. That didn't mean she didn't spot the glint of it in the distance, moving away from them. No, she was well trained enough to see it and itch to go after it. Mostly, she wanted to feel the wind through her hair and watch if Draca followed her down.
The control and spontaneity she showed was infectious.
There was a part of her that knew that Draca couldn't show this side of herself to just anyone. Not being the woman she was or simply being a Malfoy in general.
Cassi laughed. "Show off," she teased as though she hadn't done her own showing off right then. These moments they shared made her feel free and giggly.
There was currently in Draca's life a fine line between being the woman she set out to be, both as a student, a Slytherin, and a quidditch player, and following the woman that had caught her attention since the moment they met on the train. It was hard to focus on those things that meant so much to her when she was around Cassi. Focus was a hard thing in those moments.
Being a Malfoy meant a certain decorum. Being on the pitch with Cassi meant being herself, and it showed.
"All for you," she called, knowing it was a bit much, showing off and admitting why, but she couldn't help herself. Not even as she grazed past Cassi with a smile and a wave before banking her broom once more, half facing the other witch as if the snitch wasn't her target. Not anymore.
Cassi's life was all about what she had to do for the sake of the Wizarding World. What she had to do for the Greater Good. All she wanted was to simply be Cassi and to enjoy life a little. Enjoy the time she got away from the prying eyes of the general public.
She laughed and bit on her lip. "Is that right? All for me?"
Cassi believed it too. She watched the other girl with a little glint in her eye, debating on what she wanted to do at this moment. The snitch, at this point, was all but forgotten. No, at this moment, the other girl was her focus.
"Question is, what are we going to do about this..."
Draca had been lucky being born into the family she had been. She had a lot handed to her, but like for Cassi it came with a lot of responsibilities. Things they both had to answer for, for things they others had done. Never what they themselves had done or brought into their lives.
"Did you like it? Was it worth it?" She knew she was showing her hand, but she couldn't help but to ask.
"About what?" She knew that was the goal, to get her to ask that. She tensed, waiting to see what Cassi did.
While Cassi may have decided to be in Gryffindor, she wasn't completely unaware of the things happening around her. She was gathering Dumbledore had something in store for her and she wasn't completely sold on the idea of whatever it was. She didn't like it when another decided they had more say in her life than she did and honestly? That had been her entire life so far.
This though? Was much simpler. Easier to understand and wanted.
"It was worth it," she said with a smile. She dismounted her broom and walked over to Draca, watching her for just a second before leaning in and brushing her mouth over the other girl's. "That."
Had Draca thought about this exact moment? More times than she knew how to count. Was it desired, wanted, and all she knew their life should be? Of course. Was she still shocked when that moment came? Most definitely.
Barely able to catch her breath, and yet she reached out, catching Cassi's hand and pulling her closer.
"I think we need to explore that further," she admitted, smiling as she lifted the girl's hand, kissing the back of her hand, and then turning it over and kissing the inside of her wrist.
There had still been some small part of Cassi that almost anticipated Draca pushing her away and stomping back off to the castle. When that didn't happen and instead the Malfoy Heiress pulled her in closer? Any remaining hesitation slipped away like the snitch they had been chasing.
Cassi smiled and stepped in closer, watching her while biting on the inside of her cheek. "Funny that, I was just thinking the same thing," she admitted, her breathing hitching when Draca's lips pressed into the inside of her wrist. She reached out with her free hand and traced her finger tips over Draca's cheek.
Draca was stunned, delighted, and not willing to hide how she felt, what she was thinking about this moment and what was changing.
Leaning into that touch, her eyes closing as she gave the smuggest of smirks, unwilling to move away from that touch. "We likely should have done this sooner," she said, always the one to have the smart comment, to push things a bit further. If only that she had always been taught to do just that.
Cassi grinned when Draca closed her eyes and watched that smirk form on her
mouth. It was a lovely mouth, she had to admit. "Much sooner," she
said with a laugh. She wasn't surprised by that comment. Not in the least.
She leaned in and pressed another kiss to the other girl's lips, stepping
in even closer to her.
She was surprised by the turn of the evening. Surprised but not at all
disappointed by it. Hermione and Ron would call her obsessed with her
but... it wasn't really that. Though, surely there might have been
some strong interest there. She couldn't help it. As much as they
frustrated each other, she was captivated by her.
Certainly Draca had hoped things would come to this, but to finally have this be a reality, she couldn't help but think about all the time they'd lost.
Sliding an arm around Cassi's waist, pulling her in close to her side and holding her close as their mouths met in that second kiss.
"They'll think you're mad when they learn," she teased, her mouth brushing to Cassi's cheek as she spoke.
"They already think I'm mad," she teased her with a smile, brushing her mouth over Draca's cheek in response. She dropped her broom to loop both arms around the other girl. She felt happy. Which while more common now was still a relatively new feeling.
Especially considering it was Draca Malfoy who made her happy.
"I thought for sure you would run off," she admitted with a smile, pulling away just long enough to look at her, brushing her cheek with her thumb.
Brooms, everything else, it was forgotten. Just focusing on Cassi as Draca pulled her closer. Savoring the way this felt, having soft curves in her arms and that beautiful, perfect face next to her own.
"What? Why would you ever think that?" Truly stunned by that comment, turning her head enough to kiss the pad of Cassi's thumb. "You're mad, truly," she teased. "But not enough to make me run off."
Cassi took the moment to savor the feel of Draca's body against hers - soft curves and her face... her mouth... those eyes. She smiled and watched Draca kiss her thumb and bit down on her bottom lip in response before letting it go. "Because you're... you and I'm... well, me. I didn't think you would think of me in the same way," she said, her cheeks flushed red.
She felt her heart beat quicken knowing that this was real, this was happening. Oh she hadn't dared to think that this would actually become reality but it did. It was.
"Oh good," she said with a smile before leaning in and pressing another kiss to Draca's mouth. She slid her fingers through Draca's hair, wanting to feel the softness between her fingers, having always wondered how it would feel. Was that weird? She was sure it was.
"I'm a Malfoy, and you are the most perfect woman I could chosen to have in my life," she said, arching a brow at Cassi. "Is that what you're trying to say?"
It was a challenge, one not easily answered without denying she was deserving of a Malfoy, and it was definitely intentionally done on Draca's part.
Definitely not running though as she leaned into the kiss, sighing at that tender touch, of tasting the sweetness on Cassi's lips.
Cassi laughed at the look on Draca's face. It was more than she could have expected. This whole thing had felt so tentative at first and now... this, all of this. "Yes, that is exactly what I'm trying to say," she said with another soft laugh then gave her a warm smile.
They both knew their pasts. Golden Girl. Princess of Slytherin. They were an unlikely duo (or maybe so they think).
Cassi pressed in closer to the other girl with a hum, smiling. "I can become addicted to those," she murmured after slowly pulling away to look at her.
It felt so odd, in every way that was perfect in her mind. She needed this, and needed to find that they truly had a chance because Draca had not until she met Cassi found anyone she felt she could be close to. Not for any sort of a length of time.
"Good, I'm glad to hear you say it," she teased, stroking back a beautiful lock of Cassi's hair. "Good. I plan to keep you indulged in them for a long time."
Feeling Draca's hand stroking back a piece of her hair made Cassi smile. "Is that right," she asked with a smile. "I look forward to that then." It was so easy to plan for a future, of some kind, here on the darkened grounds of the Quidditch pitch. But whether or not, in the light of day, they could make this work... well, Cassi would wait and see.
She wanted it to. But her past told her things didn't always work out so golden for the Golden Girl.
"Now, did we want to finish our game or do you need to head back in," she asked with a smile, glancing at her. Lights out would be soon and she knew Draca would need to get back in before that with the snitch. If she was gone still, her friends may start to worry. They hadn't been out here for too long so perhaps they still had time.
Cassi lifted a hand and slid her fingers through Draca's hair. She'd always been captivated by this girl, ever since they met on the train. She exhaled a soft breath and looked in those gray eyes. "You're beautiful," she said without even thinking.
"I want to stay here with you," she murmured, leaning into the touch of Cassi's hand against her hair. Smiling then, looking proud and delighted at the same time. "While I'm aware of that? Hearing it from you makes everything different," she admitted.
And it did. She's always been beautiful, but she knows Cassi means so much more than perfect features crafted by Veela blood. And that means so much more to Draca.
Leaning in, kissing her so tenderly. Wanting more, even craving it, but knowing that this would be enough. At least for now, for the time they have together.
"When do you have to be back?" In other words, when will they start looking for you?
Cassi smiled, very pleased to hear her say that. "Good because I want to stay here with you too," she murmured and pressed a kiss to the same cheek she had kissed so suddenly earlier. This wasn't how she expected the night to go but it was so much better than she'd imagined.
She sighed into that kiss, wanting so much more at that moment and teasingly licked at the girls bottom lip. She loved how Draca tasted.
"I have some time," she murmured. At least another thirty minutes before someone started to get worried. "Do you want to keep flying or move to one of the stands and see what else we can get up to?" She had a teasing smile on her mouth as she watched Draca's face.
It started the first moment they came to Hogwarts, and now Draca can't imagine life without Cassi in it. It hasn't even been that long, yet it's a huge length of their life maturing. From being young girls, to growing up into the women they were. Women who knew what the wanted, and the lives they wanted for themselves.
Her hand took Cassi's and gave a tug. "Come on. Stands sounds good to me," she murmurs, meaning it, wanting time when they aren't busy, aren't competing, when they're just together.
